  • What do you want students to take away from your classes? What do they learn?

    Students will learn about the role of state and local governments in the American federal system, the inner workings of state and local governments, and the policymaking process. Students will come away from the course with an understanding of state and local governments, as well as the ability to analyze policy and policy problems.

  • What types of projects do your students do in the online courses?

    Students will write a policy memorandum advocating for a change in public policy or government structure.

  • What advice would you give to those considering your online program?

    I would encourage students to invest in research and writing assignments to develop their communication and research skills.

  • What is the value of a higher degree in the field in which you teach? What are some of the skills students gain in this program?

    It will help students gain knowledge about the policy development and administration process, the role of state and local governments in the U.S. system of government and develop the ability to analyze policy and policy problems.
