Career Highlights:
I serve as the primary administrator for all graduate programs in the Kelce College of Business at Pittsburg State University, providing leadership and oversight for the MBA, Master of Professional Accounting, and Master of Science in Human Resource Development programs across both traditional and fully online modalities. In this role, I supervise graduate program staff; hire, support, and manage adjunct and courtesy graduate faculty; and provide strategic direction for curriculum development, course scheduling, and program staffing to ensure academic quality and compliance with accreditation requirements. I work closely with Graduate and Continuing Studies, the Graduate Council, and other university offices to maintain policy alignment, strengthen enrollment outcomes, and support students from admission through graduation.
In addition to my administrative responsibilities, I have taught undergraduate and graduate-level business and leadership courses at Pittsburg State University for several years in both on-campus and fully online environments. My work emphasizes relevant, student-centered curriculum design that responds to workforce needs while maintaining academic rigor. Through collaboration with faculty, instructional support partners, and university leadership, I remain committed to advancing accessible, high-quality business education and fostering meaningful learning experiences for a diverse student population.

What do you want students to take away from your classes? What do they learn?
In MGT 828: Leadership and Behavioral Management, my goal is for MBA students to leave with a practical and reflective understanding of leadership that extends beyond theory into real-world application. Students examine the dynamic relationship between leaders and followers, distinguish leadership from management, and explore how organizational design shapes leadership effectiveness. Through engagement with foundational leadership models and contemporary perspectives, students learn to evaluate leadership challenges across diverse contexts and apply evidence-based approaches to decision-making. Equally important, the course emphasizes self-awareness and growth, encouraging students to identify their own leadership strengths, clarify their personal leadership style, and develop the confidence to lead ethically, adaptively, and effectively within complex organizational environments.
What types of projects do your students do in the online courses?
Students complete multiple applied case studies throughout the course that require them to analyze real-world leadership challenges across diverse organizational contexts. These case studies culminate in a comprehensive final project in which students assume the role of consultants for a mid-sized nonprofit organization, diagnosing leadership and behavioral management issues using established leadership theories. The final project emphasizes critical thinking, theory-to-practice application, and actionable recommendations, allowing students to demonstrate their ability to assess organizational dynamics, evaluate leadership effectiveness, and propose evidence-based solutions.
What advice would you give to those considering your online program?
If you’re considering an MBA, my advice is simple: just do it. The challenge will stretch you, sharpen your thinking, and open doors you didn’t know were possible—but only if you take the first step.
What is the value of a higher degree in the field in which you teach? What are some of the skills students gain in this program?
An MBA adds value by preparing students to think strategically, lead effectively, and navigate complex organizational challenges beyond the undergraduate level. Students develop critical skills in leadership, decision-making, communication, ethical reasoning, and applying business theory to real-world problems.
Why did you start teaching?
I chose to pursue teaching at the collegiate level because of the lasting impact a professor-mentor had on me during my own studies, showing me the power of encouragement, guidance, and genuine care in the learning process. That experience sparked my passion for teaching and learning, and it continues to shape my commitment to supporting and inspiring students as they discover their own potential.
What is the one book you think everyone should read?
“Leadership 2.0,” by Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves
Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students may not know about you.
Outside of teaching and administration, I’m a full-time mom to three beautiful children, which keeps me busy, grounded, and constantly learning in new ways—both at home and in the classroom.
